Kappa Alpha Psi was founded January 5, 1911 by Elder W. Diggs, Byron
K. Armstrong, and eight other Black students on the campus of Indiana
University. Like every other fraternity and sorority at the time, the
fraternity was formed partly in response to the ubiquitous ostracism
of Black students.
