Ida B Wells
Ida Bell Wells was the journalist who first gathered statistics detailing the extent and consequences of the lynchings of Black citizens. Despite being attacked (the printing presses for her newspaper in Memphis, TN were destroyed, for example), she continued in her efforts for reform, describing in detail the circumstances surrounding lynchings. She was commemorated on a postage stamp in 1990.
